Van Ingen said, ”We had a lot of meetings after our defeat to FC Twente last weekend and we worked towards the game against Excelsior Rotterdam where we hoped for a reaction from the players. Our performances lately and the fact that we do not see any reaction means we had to take this decision.”
”It’s not just the fact that we did not pick up any points. It is also the question of are the players ready to fight to pick up points and we believe that something different is needed in the final weeks of the season.”
”We have a young squad that needs stability. We believe then another personality can help them in the last weeks of the season.”
”We spoke to Peter this afternoon and we hope that we can give clarity this week as regards to the managerial position. We are keeping all options open.”
”The reaction of Peter Hyballa after receiving the news was very professional and emotional as we both believed that we would stay up and it is definitely one of the mot difficult decisions I have ever had to make.”
”He said to me that he also anticipated it after little contact after the Excelsior Rotterdam match. I must give a big compliment for the fantastic personality that Peter Hyballa has.”
