PSV were on top from the kick off with Jetro Willems firing just over the bar, before Memphis Depay forced Karl-Johan Johnsson into a fine save with a curling effort.
Just before the break NEC were convinced they should have been awarded a penalty, when Michael Higdon was dragged down by Jeffrey Bruma, but the referee waved play on much to the fury of the home side.
On 58 minutes PSV took the lead as Bryan Ruiz cut in from the right hand side and fired a low shot past Johnsson into the bottom corner for the forwards 2nd goal in two games.
With eight minutes left Depay sealed the three points with an excellent strike which flew into the top corner from around 25 yards. The winger could have netted a second in injury time but Johnsson pulled off a brilliant save to deny the forward.
The win moves PSV within two points of Vitesse in 4th, and Cocu’s side are still in contention for an automatic European place. NEC remain 17th in the table.
