NEC Nijmegen are one game away from the Eredivisie after they defeated Roda JC 3-0 on Thursday evening.

After only five minutes, NEC Nijmegen took the lead with 19-year-old right-back Bart van Rooij blasting the ball into the top corner.

NEC continued to dominate and they missed several chances, while Rangelo Janga also hit the crossbar with a deflected strike. Eventually, in first-half injury time, Janga did double the lead with a tap-in.

Roda JC barely offered anything but Erik Falkenburg did come close to pulling one back early in the second half in a rare highlight for the away side.

NEC then sealed the victory on the hour-mark as Jonathan Okita raced through to net a third. There could have been more goals for NEC but Jordy Bruijn hit the crossbar.

NEC will now face either Emmen or NAC Breda on Sunday for a place in the Eredivisie. The club are one game away from returning to the Eredivisie after four years away.
