NEC Nijmegen are now only one point behind Ajax after they defeated Heerenveen 2-0.

With Ajax dropping points, NEC sensed an opportunity to close on fifth but they were frustrated in a first half that had few chances.

Finally, in the 67th minute, Koki Ogawa broke the deadlock from a corner and NEC then wrapped up the win through Rober Gonzalez.

NEC stay sixth for now with the win while Heerenveen is 9th.
