ornjeBefore the World Cup started in Brazil just over a month ago, the Dutch were seeded at number 15 in the FIFA world rankings, and, many pundits were predicting a group stage exit for the Oranje.

As we all know, they survived the group stage, and even made it to the semi-finals, ultimately ending the tournament on a good note with a 3-0 win against host nation Brazil for third place. It also earned them a spot in the top three nations, with the gold, silver, and bronze winners at the tournament each taking the same spot in the rankings (Germany and Argentina at first and second, respectively).

Colombia at number 4, and Belgium round out the top 5, of the new rankings released today. This new ranking solidifies the pride all fans feel, though we’ll be looking to climb up the ranks even further in future years.

I'm a digital/social marketer out of Chicago. I grew up loving Dutch football - total football is the only way to play. I support PSV in the Eredivisie, and whatever team has the most Dutch guys on it in any other league. Hup Holland Hup!
