Netherlands lost their opening two games of the World Cup but have been getting better and better as the tournament has gone on.

Liverpool defender Ki-Jana Hoever opened the scoring in the 30th minute before Sontje Hansen had a quick second disallowed by VAR for an offside.

In the 40th minute, Hansen was played through on goal and the Ajax striker made no mistake with his finish. This time the goal stood and Netherlands were 2-0 up.

Paraguay hit back in first-half stoppage time through Diego Duarte, who capitalised on a big error in the Netherlands defence.

Netherlands dominated the early stages of the second half but they didn’t add a third goal, while Braaf also had a strike disallowed by VAR.

With fifteen minutes left, Paraguay came close to an equaliser but couldn’t take it. In the 78th minute, Braaf did make it 3-1 after being set up by Hansen.

Netherlands head into the semi-finals which will be played on the 14th of November against either Mexico or South Korea.
