Former Netherlands winger Rob Rensenbrink has passed away at the age of 72.

The former attacker played for DWS, Club Brugge, Anderlecht, Portland Timbers and Toulouse during his career.

Rensenbrink also earned 46 caps for the Netherlands national team, scoring 14 goals. He was a key part of the 1974 and 1978 World Cup squads and will be mostly remembered for almost scoring a last minute winner in the 1978 World Cup final.

Various Belgian media are reporting that Rensenbrink has passed away after fighting with the muscle disease PSMA.
