Mark Flekken 5/10: Given a chance to impress and he made a couple of good saves but also gave away the penalty. His distribution is poor compared to Verbruggen.
Denzel Dumfries 2/10: Sent off within twelve minutes for a silly challenge. Ruined Koeman’s plans for the game.
Nathan Ake 6/10: Played at left back and did what he had to do defensively. A reliable back up for a number of positions at the tournament.
Virgil van Dijk 6/10: Only played the first half before going off. Did well defensively after the red card.
Stefan de Vrij 4/10: His blunder led to the red card for Dumfries as he missed a header. A torrid first half but he improved slightly in the second half. Is there reason to keep him in the squad?
Jerdy Schouten 5.5/10: Did okay but at times struggled against a physically strong Ecuadorian midfield.
Quinten Timber 6.5/10: A display that may have earned him a spot on the plane to the World Cup. He was physical and played a lovely ball through to Brobbey in the second half that should have resulted in a goal.
Xavi Simons 5/10: Lost a lot of battles against his opponents after the red card. Simons doesn’t want to be involved in a battle and he struggled to make an impact.
Donyell Malen N/A: Had to be brought off due to the red card of Dumfries.
Cody Gakpo 6/10: Caused the own goal that gave the Netherlands the lead. He then disappeared before being brought off at the break.
Brian Brobbey 5.5/10: Got a big chance to prove himself but the red card hindered him. He got a big chance to win it in the second half but he missed it.

Well koeman did mentioned few times in press conference whereby there are few players are selected due to their character despite not playing regularly for their clubs. De Vrij is one of them.
