Marco Bizot 6/10: Could have done a little better for the goal, and punched at times when he could catch. But not the worst debut for the AZ man.
Hans Hateboer 4/10: Horrible first-half performance from Hateboer, who left so much space for Spain to attack. He was hooked at half-time.
Owen Wijndal 7.5/10: Really mature performance from Wijndal, who was making only his second Oranje appearance. Strong in the challenge and an outlet going forward. Got the assist for Van de Beek’s equaliser.
Joel Veltman 4.5/10: Turned so slowly and caught out for the Spain goal. A big mistake. He did improve after that to make some interceptions but needs to concentrate for a full 90 minutes. It is clear that Netherlands miss Van Dijk and De Ligt.
Nathan Ake N/A: Unlucky to come off early with a hamstring injury. Hopefully he will be back quickly.
Frenkie de Jong 5.5/10: Not a bad performance from De Jong and he had some nice touches. However, he did not have the impact he would have wanted before going off.
Georginio Wijnaldum 6/10: The birthday boy broke between the lines in the first-half and looked for his teammates to make better runs. Showed some nice touches too before going off at the break.
Donny van de Beek 6/10: Got caught offside constantly in a first-half that saw him try hard without much joy. Scored the equaliser in the second half, but didn’t contribute much else.
Steven Berghuis 5/10: Barely got involved in the first half before going off at the break. Couldn’t make the impact he was hoping for.
Memphis Depay 5/10: A frustrating night for Memphis, who missed a massive chance to put Netherlands ahead. Looked lost on the wing at times.
Luuk de Jong 5/10: Could barely notice he was on the pitch at times and he looked very tired in the second half. Should have won it late on but decided to take a touch instead of shooting first time.
Substitutes
Daley Blind 6/10: Came on early for Ake. Started at centre-back and moved into the midfield in the second half. Looked better in the second half and helped Netherlands get more control in the midfield.
Stefan de Vrij 6.5/10: Netherlands defence looked much more secure with De Vrij on in the second-half.
Davy Klaassen 6.5/10: Just like De Vrij, Klaassen added stability in the second half. Alongside Blind, the duo bossed the midfield and offered protection to the defence.
Calvin Stengs 7/10: A big impact in the second half. His link-up play with Dumfries was excellent and his movement caused Spain’s defenders some problems. Great to see him excel in Oranje.
Denzel Dumfries 8/10: Excellent in the second half. Made a very important block at the back and caused Spain plenty of issues going forward. Should maybe have released the ball a bit sooner for the late chance that De Jong squandered but overall a great performance.
Ryan Babel 5/10: De Boer loves Babel and his attitude but his performances on the pitch needs to match. Smashed two strikes over via deflections in his only contributions.
Luuk De Jong is so poor. I don’t think he should even be in the squad. Too slow and makes little contribution to the team.
what i see is the netherlands 2015-2017 period *the worst version ever* knvb totally got it wrong from FDB appointment ronald koeman started something he should have continued better than going to the already struggling barca
let us dont cry on koeman but cry on the manager that doesnt have a good managerial cv he failed with all teams so what we expect from him.. i dont see any improvements the team play with koeman spirit not FBD plan
the next two matches the last chances for FDB to show us if he deserve this job or not
the two matches are easy on papers from what we used to see from our team under koeman so this is a real test for him to get it or not
lastly with van dijk and de ligt absence i suggest to play with 3 at the back because i dont trust veltman or blind at the back play with de vrij botman blind will be better
Its quite a big mistery to me why weghorst is not is not even being considered to be in the 23 man dutch team, but they keep bringing babel, promes, berghuis that have always been a proven failure match after match.
Its an offence to someone who’s playing in a top league, and doing good, but instead they keep gathering crap players who are way past their best and bring nothing to the team!!!!
It was my second time i saw stengs playing for the national team and i really enjoyed watching him.
FDB should invest on him, he is not yet a complete player, but i see a great future is he is given confidence.
With weghorst in the center, bergwijn on the left and stengs on the right im sure it would be a totally different Holland team, much more efficient!
