Without Jackie Groenen and Vivianne Miedema, Netherlands got off to a rocky start and Portugal had an early goal disallowed for offside.
In the 7th minute, Netherlands opened the scoring as Damaris Egurrola nodded the ball over keeper InΓͺs Pereira from a corner. Nine minutes later, another corner led to Stefanie van der Gragt also heading in to make it 2-0.
Chances were squandered to make it 3-0 before Portugal pulled one back before the break thanks to a Carole Costa penalty. Dominique Janssen fouled Diana Silva. Two minutes into the second half, Portugal leveled the scores as Diana Silva headed in.
Jill Roord had a goal disallowed after a lengthy VAR review but a wonderful strike from Danielle van de Donk into the top corner did put Netherlands back in front.
Netherlands saw out the rest of the game and they move onto four points and will now face Switzerland in the final group game this weekend.
