The Netherlands squad has released a joint statement to thank Ronald Koeman for his work with Oranje and wishes him well at Barcelona.

Koeman was confirmed as the new head coach of Barcelona on Wednesday, ending his two year spell in charge of the Netherlands.

A joint statement from the Oranje players was then released, “Under the leadership of Ronald Koeman, we have taken enormous steps in recent years and laid the foundation for a bright future. As a team, we are very grateful for that. We understand that he wants to make his dream come true at Barcelona and we grant him this.

“We are going to do everything we can to realise our dreams in Orange and make the Oranje fans proud.”

Dwight Lodeweges will take charge of the Nations League ties against Poland and Italy next month.
