Netherlands face France on the 31st of August in Paris before hosting Bulgaria four days later. Both matches are crucial with Oranje currently sitting third in their qualifying group, three points behind both France and Sweden.
The big news is that Robin van Persie is included, with Advocaat stating the veteran is still one of the Netherlands best forwards, despite concerns over his fitness. It’s his first call up since the 3-2 defeat to Czech Republic in 2015.
Also included for the first time is Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek, who is rewarded for his good form early in the season, while Karim Rekik and Marco van Ginkel return. Missing out are Eljero Elia and Ryan Babel, who were included in the provisional squad.
The full selection can be seen below:

Well, now we know that it isn’t just Blind who was off his rocker. How many mistakes must Veltman continue to make at club level before he finally gets dumped from the NT? And De Ligt is too young and inexperienced. Let’s pray that Hoedt, Tete, de Vrij get through this weekend healthy. If Veltman and De Ligt start the French could wind up with five or six goals.
Realistically speaking…..a draw would be an absolutely fantastic result of the Dutch in this match. But I don’t see it happening.
