Netherlands are closing in on a top ten spot in the FIFA rankings after rising three places to 14th.

de jong oranjeSince the rankings were last announced, with Netherlands in 17th, the Oranje have drawn 1-1 with the Republic of Ireland and beat Poland 2-1. These two matches are enough to see Netherlands rise up to 14th in the latest standings, with Danny Blinds side climbing above Switzerland, Mexico and Turkey.

Argentina stay top of the rankings, with Belgium in second, Colombia third, Germany fourth and Chile rounding off the top five.

For Netherlands, Ecuador, England, Italy and Austria stand in the way of a place in the top ten. The Oranje meet Austria on Saturday in a friendly.
