Wins over Belgium and Belarus had already booked Netherlands place in the championships this May in Croatia, but with Italy also recording two victories the game on Sunday acted as a play-off to finish top.
Kees van Wonderen’s side got off to an excellent start and were 2-0 up after only 12 minutes. Firstly Daishawn Redan netted from the penalty spot before the Ajax forward set-up Giovanni de la Vega to make it 2-0 from close range.
Italy improved after the break and pulled one back through Hans Nicolussi Caviglia but Netherlands held on to claim the win.
It was the perfect qualifying campaign for the young Dutch side and they will be one of the top seeds for the European Championships.
