Netherlands U17’s have sealed top spot in their European Championship group a game early after defeating Spain 2-0.

Kees van Wonderen made several changes to the side that easily defeated Germany 3-0 in the group’s opening game with six new faces in the starting line-up.

Chelsea youngster Daishawn Redan, who netted a double against Germany, was once again up front and he took only 13 minutes to open the scoring. The striker raced through on goal before slotting past the Spanish goalkeeper.

Netherlands remained a danger throughout the first half but couldn’t add a second goal. Spain raised their game after the break and missed several chances to net an equaliser.

With 12 minutes left, Netherlands sealed the victory as Arnau Tenas turned Ajax midfielder Ryan Gravenberch’s cross into his own net.

Netherlands face Serbia in their final group game on Friday but have already sealed top spot in the group and can start preparing for the quarter-finals.
