Netherlands U17’s made a good start to the elite qualifying round for the European Championships with a 5-0 win over a 10-man Northern Ireland U17’s.

Netherlands are keen to reach the European Championships this summer in order to defend their crown. A team featuring seven Ajax talents were helped out when Darragh Burns was shown a red card early on.

From that moment there was only ever going to be one winner with Ajax striker Brian Brobbey opening the scoring in the 36th minute before Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen made it 2-0 before halftime.

In the second half, Naci Ünüvar made it 3-0 before Brobbey and Dirk Proper sealed a comfortable 5-0 victory.

Netherlands top the group ahead of Czech Republic, who defeated Israel 1-0 in the group’s other game.
