Netherlands U17’s have topped their European Championship qualifying group after a 6-4 victory over Sweden on Wednesday evening.

Both nations have already qualified for the Elite round after winning their ties with Montenegro and Liechtenstein but their meeting on Wednesday decided who topped the group.

Sweden took the lead in the 25th minute through Tim Price but Netherlands hit back five minutes later when Naoufal Bannis slotted in a penalty kick.

Ten minutes into the second half, Netherlands were awarded another penalty which Bannis again scored to make it 2-1. Ki-Jana-Hoever made it 3-1 in the 59th minute before Bannis completed his hattrick with another penalty moments later.

Sebastian Nanasi pulled one back for Sweden before Soulyman Allouch made it 5-2. In injury time, Sweden threatened a remarkable comeback when Nanasi netted his second and Karl Landsten got another to make it 5-4. However, with the last kick of the game, Jaymillio Pinas secured the victory for Oranje.

Netherlands top the group and the defending European Champions head into the elite qualifying round as one of the top seeds.
