Netherlands began their quest to reach next years U19 European Championships with a 5-0 win over the Faroe Islands on Wednesday.

Maarten Stekelenburg’s side dominated from the start but they had to wait until the 43rd minute to break the deadlock through Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu. Two minutes later, his Feyenoord teammate Wouter Burger made it 2-0 with a nice strike into the far corner.

In the second half, Utrecht forward Mohamed Mallahi netted a fine double to make it 4-0 before Chelsea striker Daishawn Redan completed the rout in the final moments on the rebound after seeing his initial header saved.

On Saturday, Netherlands face Bosnia & Herzigova before finishing the group against hosts the Republic of Ireland. The top two from each group progress to the elite round.
