After the simple 3-0 win over Malta on Wednesday, Netherlands took another step towards the elite round of qualifying with a victory over Hungary in Lisse.
Halfway through the first half, Netherlands took the lead with Joel Piroe diving to head a free kick into the net at the back post. A second goal was eventually found in the 84th minute through substitute Donyell Malen, who fired in after a good team move.
Netherlands are top of the group and three points ahead of both Hungary and Slovenia. A win in the final game against Slovenia on Wednesday would send Oranje through as group winners and potentially secure a crucial seeded spot for the Elite round draw.
