Wins over Finland and Ukraine meant Maarten Stekelenburg’s side just needed a draw against Greece to book their place in Georgia.

PSV striker Joel Piroe hit the woodwork in the first half, but it was Greece who created the better chances and Justin Bijlow was forced into three saves to deny the lively Greeks.

The second half was nervy for the young Dutch side but they could have sealed a win with ten minutes to go when Piroe was fouled in the box. However, Ferdi Kadiouglu missed from the penalty spot. That did not prove crucial, though, as Netherlands held on for the point they needed.

Netherlands u19 line-up: Bijlow; Zeefuik, Floranus, Van Drongelen, Wijndal; Kongolo (78. Van Bergen), Koopmeiners, De Wit; Kadioglu, Piroe, Kluivert.
