With only one nation progressing from each group, Netherlands couldn’t afford a slip up in their first game, especially with ties against Scotland and Germany to come.
After 10 minutes, PSV Eindhoven striker Donyell Malen opened the scoring with a header from Ferdi Kadioglu’s cross. It was 2-0 before the break as Tom van de Looi netted from distance.
In the second half, Malen got a second before Ajax winger Che Nunnely and NEC midfielder Ferdi Kadioglu made it 5-0. Hugo Vetletsen pulled a consolation back for Norway before PSV midfielder Zakaria Aboukhlal added Netherlands sixth late in injury time.
Netherlands will now face Scotland on the 24th of March before facing Germany three days later.
