In a must-win European Championship qualifier, Netherlands U21’s were held to a goalless draw in England.

With a five-point gap at the top, Netherlands knew they had to defeat England if they had any chance of realistically finishing top and automatically qualifying for next years European Championships.

Netherlands had the best chance in the first half with the dangerous Arnout Danjuma cutting inside before finding Guus Til but the AZ midfielder could only blast over the bar.

In the second half, England dominated but Justin Bijlow saved well from Dominic Calvert Lewin and James Maddison, while Ryan Sessegnon shot over. Just before the end, Demarai Gray had a massive chance but he smashed the ball against the bar.

England maintains their five-point gap at the top and Netherlands now need to concentrate on being one of the best four runners-up and face Scotland next week.
