Netherlands women are on the verge of reaching the European Championships knock-out round after a 1-0 victory over Denmark in Rotterdam.

With the same eleven that saw off Norway in the group opener, Netherlands made a dominant start with Sherida Spitse going close with a free kick before Vivianne Miedema shot inches wide.

After 25 minutes Netherlands were awarded a penalty after Danielle van de Donk was grounded. Spitse made no mistake from the spot to score what would prove to be the only goal of the game.

As the second half wore on Denmark became more dangerous but they could not find the equaliser as Netherlands held on to make it two wins from two. They now face Belgium in the final group game knowing at least a draw will seal their spot in the next round.
