Netherlands women have booked their place in the World Cup playoff final after defeating Denmark 2-1 on Tuesday night and 4-1 on aggregate.

After the 2-0 win in the Netherlands last week, Orange Lionesses looked to finish the job in Denmark on Tuesday night.

Netherlands got off to a poor start with Dominique Bloodworth conceding a penalty in the fourth minute after a foul on Pernille Harder. Nadia Nadim scored to make it 1-0, but the response was swift from the visitors.

Two minutes after falling behind, Lineth Beerensteyn headed Netherlands back on level terms from a Desiree van Lunteren cross. Sherida Spitse nearly put Netherlands ahead before the break but her free-kick came back off the bar.

In the second half, Netherlands comfortably dealt with Denmark before Beerensteyn netted a winning goal in injury time to seal Oranje’s spot in the playoff final.

Netherlands will now face Switzerland over two legs for a place in next years World Cup. The first leg takes place on the 5th of November with the second eight days later.
