de jong 3The 25-year-old has spoken of his readiness to leave Eredivisie champions Ajax this summer, but only if he gets the right offer. Newcastle United have been linked with the midfielder since last summer, but De Jong was reportedly unkeen on the move in January, as he searched for a move to Germany.

However according to both the Daily Mail, and Daily Mirror, The Premier League club are ready to reignite their interest this summer, with De Jong seen as a replacement for Yohan Cabaye, who left Newcastle for PSG in January.

The club managed by Alan Pardew will also look to use Siem’s brother Luuk de Jong as bait, with the striker currently on loan at Newcastle from Borussia Monchengladbach. Should Luuk make the deal permanent, he may persuade his brother to join him in the North East of England.

De Jong has been with Ajax since 2005, and has made over 160 league appearances for the club, scoring 56 goals, and winning three Eredivisie titles.
