The former Heerenveen star has struggled to hold down a place in Benfica’s first team this season, with Djuricic making only nine league appearances.
According to Portuguese media outlet, O Jogo PSV Eindhoven are interested in offering Djuricic a way back to the Eredivisie, and a chance to get his career back on track.
However the agent of the Serbian international, Oliver Cabrera, met with Newcastle United representatives in London last week, with the Premier League club favourites to sign the 22-year-old. Newcastle tried to sign Djuricic in January, and reportedly had a €12 million bid rejected by Benfica.
The superior spending power of Newcastle makes it almost impossible for PSV Eindhoven to win the battle for Djuricic’s signature, especially with the prospect of no European football in Eindhoven next season.
Surely any football agent worth his monumental fee has to advise any player, with a modicum of ambition, to avoid NUFC like the plague ?
Ideally we end up with a squad of 12 for next season and the Fatman’s marketing tool goes down the drain !
