Two first half goals from Stef Nijland was enough to give PEC Zwolle a 2-1 win over De Graafschap.

veld nuhPEC Zwolle went searching for their 100th league win at home in the Eredivisie from the start, but got a helping hand from De Graafschap midfielder Bryan Smeets for their opening goal on 23 minutes. His shocking back-pass was latched onto by Lars Veldwijk, who then teed up Nijland for a simple tap-in.

Veldwijk then set up Nijland once again on 32 minutes to deservedly double the hosts lead, and it seemed PEC Zwolle were on course for a simple victory.

However, De Graafschap improved in the second half and got themselves back into the game on 67 minutes when Nathan Kabasale fired a strike through the legs of Mickey van der Hart. The Eredivisie’s bottom club then went looking for an equaliser, but to no avail as PEC Zwolle held on.

The victory lifts PEC Zwolle to seventh, while De Graafschap remain 18th.
