Groningen have decided not to make the loan deal for midfielder Krisztian Adorjan permanent, with the youngster set to return to Liverpool.

Groningen included a deal to sign Adorjan permanently into the loan agreement with the Premier League club, but after an indifferent season from the midfielder, he will return to Liverpool.
A statement from Groningen technical director Henk Veldmate read, “After an evaluation between player and club, it is jointly decided that we will not use this option.”
“From both sides, it has become not entirely what we expected. From Adorjan there was a certain role and development expected and he himself had certain expectations. ”
Adorjan has made 21 appearances for Groningen, scoring three goals, and contributing a single assist. The 21-year old will miss the first leg of the European play-off final against AZ on Thursday, but could make his final appearance for Groningen in the return leg.
