ADO Den Haag and RKC Waalwijk will remain in the Eredivisie next season after the KNVB decided against relegation or promotion.

The KNVB had already ruled out the possibility of a 20 team league for next season and went into Friday’s conference with the clubs having two options.

Club’s could either vote for or against relegation. For would have seen RKC Waalwijk and ADO Den Haag go down, while Cambuur and De Graafschap would have come up.

16 clubs voted for relegation, with nine against and nine not voting. However, despite the advice of the clubs the KNVB decided against relegation. ADO Den Haag and RKC will remain in the top flight.

This result will have angered De Graafschap and Cambuur, who may now look into the option of legal action.
