Netherlands face Northern Ireland on the 10th of October before a tie with Belarus three days later.
Ronald Koeman has named his provisional squad with no new faces included. Roma winger Justin Kluivert is included, along with the now fit again Donny van de Beek.
The final squad will be named next week.
Although I am sure that Strongman is there strictly as a veteran presence, it would have been nice to see Koopmeiners take his place. I would have liked to see Stengs and Boadu here as well, but all in all, I agree. Maybe Willems to compete as a left back and Karsdorp on the right, but still not bad!
Still don’t understand why koeman do not select Davy Klaassen…
National team managers very often hang on to some players for baffling reasons and ignore some who are OBVIOUS choices. klaasen is playing quite well in a good team in a strong league just like Weghorst, yet Koeman keep hanging onto Strootman and Babbel. It makes no sense at all.
What on earth are you talking about? Babel has been excellent since Koeman took over. Apparently you didn’t notice, but he a role in FOUR of the 8 goals they scored in Sept. It makes PERFECT sense why he’s being selected.
Klaassen was given plenty of chances during the 2018 qualifiers. He was AWFUL, terrible touch and ball control and had no cohesion with his teammates. When Advocaat took over for Blind he replaced Klaassen with Propper, and the midfield immediately improved.
Thankfully for the Dutch fans its Koeman – and not you – who is in charge.
Dumfries should not start, he is a liability. The FB positions are a worry in general.
No reason at all for Koeman to mix things up too much at this stage, the performances recently have been quite good.
Some people above are worried about the fullback positions. I agree that RB is a concern (and I would favor Karsdorp over Veltman for sure), but I don’t see LB as a problem. Blind is FAR more tactically astute than PVA or Willems, and for all the complaints about his pace, he rarely gets beaten for it (and then only against high-end opposition).
Would be nice to see Weghorst make the final cut. He’s earned it, he’s doing exceptionally well for Wolfsburg.
i think i understood koeman’s opinions now especially when we are in advanced phase in the qualifying round the picture is now clear on the starting 11 he is just trying new players to fulfill the positions that he is not convinced by their players yet here i mean the Rb position and the third attacker with memphis and babel so every time he calls new players in those positions until he found the best mix
he just want stability in the squad including the subs also
and i am sure he will try new players when he has a chance i mean in any friendly matches after the qualifying round is over
but for now i see hateboer is good for the rb i saw him aginst roma he was very good going forward and good at defense also, with de roon they will be good at the right side as they used to play with each other
for the striker position i think koeman will always play with false 9 so why not trying weghorst this time for his morale especially when luuk doesnt have his best time at sevilla
Where are stengs and dilrosun?
