Bartholomew Ogbeche netted a hat-trick as Willem II fought back from 3-1 down to earn a point at VVV Venlo.

Both sides went into the game looking to end a bad run of form, especially VVV Venlo, who started the season so well but have failed to win in five league games.

The hosts got off to a great start with Vito van Crooy giving them the lead after only seven minutes with an excellent strike into the far corner. VVV remained in control after the opener but had to wait until the 49th minute to make it 2-0 as Damian van Bruggen fired in his second in as many games from a corner.

Willem II barely threatened, but in the 62nd minute Bartholomew Ogbeche reacted well to net on the rebound after a corner kick was cleared off the line.

Any chance of a comeback seemed to be extinguished when Clint Leemans made it 3-1 from the penalty spot with 18 minutes left. However, Ogbeche quickly pulled one back with a header before he completed his treble in injury time from close range.

The point sees Willem II remain in 15th while VVV Venlo are 12th.
