The winger started the season on loan with English Championship side Wolves but that deal has been cut short with John failing to make an impact.

John will now undergo a medical with Deportivo la Coruna on Friday as he moves to Spain until the end of the season, but the La Liga club have the option to make the deal permanent. The 24-year-old will replace fellow Dutchman Ryan Babel, who left Deportivo for Besiktas earlier this month.

John signed for Benfica from FC Twente in 2012 for around €9 million but the Dutchman has spent the last few years on loan with various clubs including Reading and Hamburg.
