Andre Onana has extended his contract with Ajax by a year to 2022 and has pledged to remain at the club for at least one more season.

The Cameroon international has been in good form for Ajax in the Champions League this season and had been linked with a move back to Barcelona this summer to replace Jasper Cillessen.

However, Onana has now pledged his future to Ajax for one more year after putting pen to paper on a new one-year-deal.

Onana told the Ajax website, “This extension means that I will stay here for at least one more season.

“It was a difficult choice but I am a young keeper, I have to play. At Ajax I am sure of that, with foreign top clubs that is just the question.

“Besides: Ajax has done a lot for me. I also think it’s important to give something back to the club. Hopefully we will win many prizes together in the coming period. “
