Belgium made the better start to the game but with Netherlands first chance, Vitesse striker Thomas Buitink slid in Mohamed Mallahi’s perfect cross to make it 1-0.

Ajax striker Diashawn Redan missed chances to make it 2-0 before Buitink sealed the victory after the break, racing through the Belgian defence before slotting in his second.

Next up for Netherlands is Belarus on Thursday before they face Italy on Sunday. The top team in each group goes to the European Championships this May in Croatia, while the best seven runners-up will also make it to the finals.
