Marc Overmars is disappointed with Brian Brobbey’s decision to leave Ajax in the summer.

Last week, it was announced that Brobbey was not going to sign a new contract and will leave Ajax in the summer when his current deal ends.

Speaking to ESPN, Ajax’s director of football affairs, Marc Overmars said, “That is of course a shame, because we saw in him a striker who can reach Ajax’s first team, A bit like Ryan Gravenberch. We offer those first twenty matches and that’s how a player in the team grows. That’s what we had in mind.

“Whether I should have done something different with the knowledge of today? We have had so much patience … Maybe a little too much patience. That may be a mistake of mine, that I should have set a faster deadline. But I have had a long time. hoped that it would turn out well. Then you go to the limit every time.”

Overmars has no bad feelings towards Brobbey, “I don’t blame him. He’s a golden guy.”
