The first half was an even affair with both sides cancelling each other out in midfield, and with no real clear cut chances created. The best opportunity fell to Luc Castaignos, but he could only lob the ball onto the roof of the net after an excellent long pass by Bjellend.
Four minutes into the second half Zwolle took the lead, with Hiwat’s ball from the right finding Guyon Fernandez at the front post, and the forward slid the ball into the bottom corner.
Dusan Tadic had a great chance to level for the visitors soon after the goal, but after being played through one on one with Boer, the PEC Zwolle keeper made a good save, and the deflection off Tadic came off the bar.
With twenty minutes left a through ball by Tadic was not cleared, and it fell to Quincy Promes, who turned and finished brilliantly from close range to level the scores at 1-1.
Hiwat had a chance cleared off the line with 10 minutes to go, while Kyle Ebecilio could only fire straight at Boer at the other end, and the match ended 1-1.
Its four league games in a row without a win for Twente now, and they may slide down the table by the end of Sunday, but another welcome point for PEC Zwolle who continue their good start to the campaign.
