Two goals from striker Luc Castaignos handed FC Twente a 2-1 win over PEC Zwolle which saw the Enschede side climb to third.

twencastTwente started the match brightly with Warner Hahn forced to keep out efforts from both Hakim Ziyech, and then Kyle Ebecilio, but it was PEC Zwolle who took the lead before the half hour mark as Ryan Thomas latched onto Stef Nijland’s pass before firing into the bottom corner.

The lead only lasted 11 minutes before Andreas Bjelland sent Luc Castaignos running at the PEC Zwolle defence and after weaving past two tackles the striker slotted past Hahn.

After the break it was the visitors who once again created the better chances, with Hahn saving from Castaignos, whileJesus Corona and Ziyech also came close. Eventually the pressure proved too much for the home side’s defence and Castaignos volleyed in a perfect cross from Corona on 80 minutes to give Twente the three points.

Its now three wins in a row for Twente and they leapfrog Feyenoord into third place on goal difference, while PEC Zwolle slide to 7th.
