PEC Zwolle swamped NEC in the opening stages, and deservedly took the lead on six minutes, as Guyon Fernandez raced onto a through ball before finding the bottom corner with a low finish.
It was 2-0 ten minutes before the break, with Mateusz Klich’s free kick evading everyone in the box, and nestling into the bottom corner.
NEC got themselves back into the game on 43 minutes thanks to a lovely half volley from Soren Rieks which flew past Diederik Boer into the net.
A minute into the second half the away side were level after Michael Higdon slid the ball into the roof of the net from a right wing cross.
PEC Zwolle put themselves back in front before the hour mark as Joost Broerse fired a stunning 30-yard strike into the top corner. However NEC equalised again ten minutes later as Kevin Conboy’s cross was prodded into the net by Rieks for his second of the game.
Despite a open end to end finish neither side was able to find an equaliser, with the point lifting PEC Zwolle up a place to 8th, while NEC remain 2nd bottom.
