PEC Zwolle have reclaimed fourth place in the Eredivisie after a 3-2 win over Heerenveen.

The home side were excellent in the first half with Younes Namli causing constant trouble to the Heerenveen defence.

The Dane went close to the opener in the sixth and then 12th minute before Wouter Marinus gave PEC Zwolle the lead with a header from a Younes Mokhtar cross. On 28 minutes, Namli got the goal he deserved, racing onto a Mokhtar through ball before rounding Martin Hansen and slotting into the empty net.

Heerenveen were dominated in the first half but they came close to pulling one back before the break when Pelle van Amersfoort forced Diederik Boer into an excellent save.

PEC Zwolle were less dominant in the second half, which allowed Heerenveen back into the game and the Frisian’s pulled one back on 69 minutes through Denzel Dumfries.

However, four minutes later, Mustafa Saymak restored PEC Zwolle’s two goal lead with a nice finish into the bottom corner.

With ten minutes to go, Reza Ghoochannejhad made it 3-2 but PEC Zwolle held out for the three points which takes them back above Feyenoord into fourth. Heerenveen are eighth.
