PEC Zwolle have moved away from a drop zone after a 2-0 victory at Excelsior.

Both sides went into the game just a point above the drop zone but it was PEC Zwolle who looked the more confident from the start.

The visitors created chances in the Rotterdam rain but Mike van Duinen, Lennart Thy and Younes Namli all couldn’t break the deadlock in a goalless first half.

Excelsior barely offered anything and eventually in the 82nd minute, Kingsley Ehizibue rose to head PEC Zwolle in front. Moments later, Namli sealed the victory with a great run and finish.

The victory lifts PEC Zwolle to 12th in the table, while Excelsior remains 15th and looking over their shoulder.
