The home side broke the deadlock on 18 minutes with Dirk Marcellis firing an excellent strike from range past Kostas Lamprou. Five minutes later Lars Veldwijk set up Queensy Menig to make it 2-0.
Willem II struggled to create any chances, but before the break they pulled one goal back as Erik Falkenburg headed in Rochdi Achenteh’s cross.
However, any chance of a comeback in the second half was ended by Veldwijk fifteen minutes after the break as the striker tapped in Wouter Marinus’s cross. In injury time Stef Nijland sealed the comfortable win, which leapfrogs PEC Zwolle above Vitesse and NEC into seventh.
Willem II remain 15th on a better goal difference than Excelsior, who lost on Friday evening.
