Last weekend, the Italian target-man reacted bitterly to his side conceding an injury-time goal in the last 20 seconds of play which resulted in a 2-2 draw at the De Grolsch Vest. A win away against second placed Twente was just the result that Feyenoord needed in order to make a late dash for the title, however it was not to be and this result leaves Feyenoord nine points adrift of leaders Ajax. Pellè clearly felt let down by his team-mates for conceding such a late goal in a pivotal game of the season.
The striker left the field of play in a severe state of anger and he could not contain his frustration ,as he was subsequently caught on camera kicking the dugout, before he continued his outburst on his way to the changing rooms.
Pellè’s actions were reviewed by the KNVB on Tuesday night, the end result was that they decided to let the Italian off lightly as he was only given a one match ban and a €5,000 fine. The one match ban however doesn’t have to be taken immediately, meaning Feyenoord’s top goal scorer will be available for the eagerly awaited crunch match against fierce rivals Ajax.
A statement on the club’s website confirmed this by saying,
“Feyenoord and Graziano Pellè have accepted the settlement proposed by the KNVB prosecutor, the striker has a suspended sentence of a one game suspension, plus an unconditional fine of 5,000 euros.”
“Pellè is therefore available for the match against Ajax next Sunday.”
