Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho decided to hand Michel Vorm a rare start in goal for the cup clash, while Steven Bergwijn once again started in attack. For Norwich City, Tim Krul was in goal.
Krul was left with no chance as Jan Vertonghen headed Tottenham in front after 13 minutes. However, the goalkeeper kept his side in the game with a few good saves and eventually, Josip Drmic sent the game to extra-time.
By that point Bergwijn had been substituted and Tottenham were struggling to create clear cut chances. Krul kept them at bay as the game headed to penalties.
Krul, who made a name for himself as a penalty killer in the 2014 World Cup, proved to be the hero for Norwich with two penalty saves to send his side through to the quarter-finals, while Vorm could only save one.
Krul will be hoping his actions will be enough to earn him a recall to the Dutch squad ahead of their friendlies with Spain and the USA later this month.
