A youthful Ajax side slumped to a 2-1 defeat in Leeuwarden on Thursday, and speaking ahead of their crucial tie with PSV on Sunday, Bosz admitted his disappointment.
Bosz said, ”I do believe that our defeat to SC Cambuur last night was a failure. I will defend my team because this is the same group of players that played at home against Panathinaikos in order to top our Europa League group and they were fantastic in that game and they dealt with the pressure superbly.
”Also in the game away at Standard Liege they were fantastic too. I am deeply disappointed about the result against SC Cambuur but also in the way we played. I have to question myself maybe I am not good enough. I warned them before the game about the dangers of SC Cambuur and I gave the example of Heerenveen having difficulty with Ijsselmeervogels and that cup matches are do or die.
”I could not get the players going for this match and therefore send them on the pitch with the right attitude. Not only do players have to develop but also managers too.
”I can only compliment SC Cambuur they played really well so I will not sell them short in any case. But we must look at ourselves and admit that we were not good enough to win this match and we only have ourselves to blame ”.
Have to hand it to a coach who is willing to actually take on some of the blame himself.
