Willem II captain Jordens Peters has announced his retirement at the age of 34.

The centre-back said in a statement on the Willem II website, “The head still wants, but the body says no. For nine seasons, 250 times I defended our colours. Nine years, eight of which as proud captain.
“We got relegated, became champions, made it to the cup final and entered Europe.”
Peters started his career with Den Bosch and made 159 appearances for the club before joining Willem II in 2012. He made his 250th appearance for Willem II at the weekend.
This season, Peters only appeared 20 times for Willem II due to knee issues and has now decided to hang up his boots.
