Feyenoord are now eleven points ahead of PSV in the table after goal-line technology proved Jeroen Zoet had dragged the ball over his own line after initially stopping Jan-Arie van der Heijden’s header.

After the game, Cocu also lamented the fact that PSV Eindhoven wasted too many chances at the start of the campaign especially in home matches and that this season may prove to be a lost one for PSV Eindhoven.

He said, ”Goal-line technology has proved decisive today. A goal is a goal and we cannot dispute that. I was proud of the way my team in the way the hunted down an equalizer when we were 1-0 down.

”But in the first 10 minutes of the game we started too slowly. We knew that Feyenoord would come quickly out the blocks with the crowd behind them and during the opening phase of the match we brought too little.

”In such a game like today. It is the taking of the one or two chances that you get often decide if you win the game or not. Feyenoord won the game through taking their chance from a corner.

”There are still a few more games to go. In theory everything is still possible but I believe that we must now look to closing the gap on Ajax and looking to end the season in an important position in the league.

”We wasted too many chances at the start of the season and that was clear especially in home games we played. We have to accept how things have gone and we can only look ahead to our game next week.”
