The coach reiterated that it is a case of all hands on deck for the squad until the winter stop in their upcoming games against FK Rostov, Go Ahead Eagles and Ajax.
Cocu said, ”We hoped that we could push on after defeating ADO Den Haag last weekend but we were sluggish tonight and we had chances to break the game open and go 1-0 up and then you would have seen a different match.
”In the 2nd half it was a race against the clock and also ourselves to score the all important goal. We have dropped points today that are unnecessary and we only have ourselves to blame by playing in a low tempo and therefore not creating enough chances to win the game.
”Luuk De Jong’goal that was ruled out for offside, of course I am angry about that because it was decisive in the match and the linesman must see that he is not offside. I admit that everybody makes mistakes but this could very well be important retrospectively.
”We raised the tempo in the 2nd half but were also careless in possession that raises the question can we play at a higher tempo but I am aware that we were fighting against the clock. But I also believe that we can expect more of ourselves than we actually showed tonight.
”I stated last week that we would have to fight for all our points up until the winter break and that is the situation that we are in. It will not be easy because it costs a lot of energy and power. During the winter break we have a lot of time to train and changes things within the squad until then it will be a case of all hands on deck until the winter break.”
