FC Twente are still looking for their first point of the season after a 1-0 defeat at Sparta Rotterdam.

Young striker Ragner Ache was awarded for his double last time out with his first start for Sparta, while Twente began with new signings Luciano Slagveer and Thomas Lam.

Oussama Assaidi went close for Twente early on but it was Sparta who took the lead with Craig Goodwin finishing a Loris Brogno cross at the back post on 18 minutes.

Robert Muhren went close before the break and after half time the midfielder struck the bar as Sparta searched for a second goal that never came. At the other end, Twente were hopeless and recorded only one shot on target as they made it four losses from four. They ended with ten men after Stefan Thesker saw red late on.
