PSV Eindhoven has dropped points in the league for the first time this season after being held to a 1-1 draw by Heracles Almelo.

Roger Schmidt was still without new signing Eran Zahavi for the trip to Heracles, while Donyell Malen, and Ryan Thomas dropped to the bench. Cody Gakpo, Bruma, Mauro JĂșnior, and Mohamed Ihattaren was the chosen attack.

PSV struggled to create anything and in the 30th minute, Nick Viergever was punished for a harsh handball. Rai Vloet stepped up to score from the spot and make it 1-0 for Heracles.

At the break, Schmidt made three changes as Malen, Thomas, and Noni Madueke all came on for Junior, Ihattaren, and Michal Sadilek. The changes had an impact with Madueke winning a penalty, which Philipp Max netted to make it 1-1.

The equaliser didn’t spur PSV on and it was Heracles who almost took the lead with Yvon Mvogo denying Vloet with an excellent save. Five minutes from time, PSV did get an excellent chance but Malen was denied by goalkeeper Michael Brouwer.

PSV drop two points and now travel to Rosenborg on Thursday looking to book their place in the Europa League group stages.
