Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are all said to be interested in signing the Ajax centre-back in the summer.
However, they are all reluctant to enter the battle for his signature due to the involvement of Mino Raiola. The agent is an adviser to De Ligt and Premier League sides are wary due to bad experiences in the past with the Dutch agent.
Raiola has a reputation for rising the price for his clients and his high agent fees are an issue for several clubs. Barcelona are also doubting De Ligt due to a poor relationship with Raiola.
The Mirror adds that so far PSG and Juventus, who have a good relationship with Raiola, are the only club to make contact with Ajax.
Raiola is a vile snake and one of the scourges of world football. Usually everybody except him – buyer, seller, and player – end up losing in these mega-deals he brokers.
One hopes that when the dust settles De Ligt will end up at a club where he can play regularly and doesn’t have exorbitant expectations for a 20 year old. But with the type of clubs Raiola is trying to get him sold to (EPL or not) that seems impossible.
